The Manipulator

People manipulate other people to get their way... its human nature. The problem with manipulation is that usually when you are manipulated into doing something, you will generally regret it later on because it was not your choice so to speak. You let someone else decide for you. You let someone else use their brain to make your decision.

Manipulation operates itself naturally in most cases. Most people do not mean to be manipulative, but they are. Like I said, its human nature. Individuals may never even realize they are being manipulative until multiple people bring it to their attention. Even then, manipulation is so habit forming that it becomes difficult to stop doing it! Its a problem almost everyone has at one point or another.

One person wants one thing and someone else wants something entirely different. In some way, the two are linked to that decision and it becomes a battle of the minds for each person to get their way instead of the other getting theirs. Obviously, this can create more than enough unnecessary pressure and argumentation.

Sometimes, dreadfully enough, it is best to just let the other person have their way... even if it seems like a terrible choice to you. In most cases, everything will work itself out and you will avoid lots of frustration and anger. You may be a little disappointed at first but over time you will see that it prevented a lot of bad emotions from stirring up.

But there are also times when it is necessary to fight for your opinion to be heard and acted upon. There are times when the other person is completely and utterly blinded by emotions, substance abuse, or any other kind of stress in their life. Letting go of your opinion to something against what you believe is difficult and it doesn't take much to stand up for what you believe in. Use discretion next time you decide to fight over something. If it is something small and pointless, let it go. If it is something that could affect you for a prolonged period of time, think wisely before you start yelling obscenities and placing your vote.
